Though digital marketing is changing the game in the global economic landscape, it is still not that popular and developed in Pakistan despite its huge potential to create jobs for young people. Hamid Mehmood, a digital marketing expert, told WealthPK that with the help of digital marketing, businessmen could reach a broad audience and target all kinds of customers, whether at home or abroad.

He stressed that it was the responsibility of the government to make digital marketing training mandatory in educational institutions. “This will open doors for students to earn a handsome income and generate foreign exchange for their country.” Mehmood said that developed nations like the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia heavily relied on digital marketing to boost their economies. “Digital marketing is booming around the globe, especially due to the rise of social media platforms.

Businesses need experts to manage their online presence to enhance their sales effectively,” he said. Mehmood said digital marketing experts in Pakistan could offer their services in different fields like content creation, social media management, search engine optimisation (SEO) and online advertising. “Majority of young people in Pakistan are tech-savvy, and the government needs to guide them towards digital marketing to exploit their potential.

Statistics show that freelance work in digital marketing is on the rise, and people are now offering their services globally, regardless of where they live,” he added.  Mohsin Ali, an SEO expert, told WealthPK that he earns a handsome salary from a digital marketing agency that offers its services to multiple clients.

He said the company had been established by people from Pakistan, and was casting a wide net by offering services to clients from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and even some European nations.  “With the introduction of artificial intelligence, many thought that digital marketing would face challenges and struggle to maintain profits.

However, the situation is taking a different turn, as people are investing more and more in digital marketing due to the rising competition,” he said. Currently, Ali said the biggest challenge in Pakistan was the growing unemployment rate among youth. “However, digital marketing can help Pakistan reverse the trend.”

“We must offer our youth internet-related subsidies to create multiple remote jobs, enabling youngsters to earn a handsome income,” he added. The SEO expert said young people living in rural areas didn’t have access to traditional job markets, and by providing the internet facilities to them, the government can open doors for work-from-home positions. Ali said digital marketing industry had the potential to reduce unemployment in the country.
