Nishat Power posts 20% growth in revenues in 9MFY23

Nishat Power Limited’s (NPL) revenue grew by 20%, whereas the gross and net profits rose 3.7% and 2.7%, respectively, in the first nine months of the previous fiscal year 2022-23 as compared to the corresponding period of the earlier fiscal, WealthPK reports. The power firm posted gross sales of Rs17.1 billion and a gross profit of Rs3.26 billion in 9MFY23, thus coming up with the gross profit ratio of 19%. The company earned Rs2.87 billion in net profit with a net profit ratio of 16.8% during this period. NPL posted earnings per share (EPS) of Rs8.12.

The company recorded sales of Rs14.3 billion in 9MFY22. Likewise, NPL had a gross profit of Rs3.1 billion and a net profit of Rs2.80 billion in 9MFY22. The company’s EPS stood at Rs7.9. Registered on the Pakistan Stock Exchange with the symbol “NPL”, Nishat Power Limited is the seventh-largest public-limited firm of the power generation and distribution sector with a market capitalisation of Rs7.9 billion.

Quarterly Review

NPL enjoyed hefty profits in the three quarters under review as indicated by the quarter-based profitability analysis. The company posted the highest gross level profitability of 53% and net profitability of 49.1% in the second quarter (Oct22-Dec22) of FY23. In the first quarter (Jul22-Sept22), NPL posted gross revenues of Rs11.4 billion, the highest of the three quarters, and a gross profit of Rs1.11 billion. The company posted a net profit of Rs943 million. Therefore, the gross and net profit ratios were reported at 10% and 8.2%, respectively. In 1QFY23, the company reported EPS of Rs2.6.

In the second quarter, the power sector company posted the highest net profit. It registered a gross revenue of Rs2.24 billion and a gross profit of Rs1.19 billion in 2QFY23. The company posted a net profit of Rs1.10 billion during this period. Thus, the gross and net profit ratios were reported to be 53% and 49.1%, respectively. In 2QFY23, the company reported EPS of Rs3.11. The power firm ended the third quarter (Jan23-Mar23) of FY23 with gross revenues of Rs3.46 billion and a gross profit of Rs960 million. The company posted a net profit of Rs831 million in 3QFY23. Therefore, the gross and net profit margins were calculated at 28% and 24%, respectively.

In 3QFY23, the NPL posted EPS of Rs2.34.
