NIE Launches Technical Training Programme for Students

March 16, 2022

By Hifsa Raja ISLAMABAD, March 16 (INP-WealthPK): The National Institute of Electronics (NIE) has launched a technical training programme for students, which is fully funded by the federal government. Syed Zeeshan Haider, coordinator and trainer of advanced electronics, told WealthPK that the offered courses are funded by Prime Minister Imran Khan, a smart government move to meet high demands for technical skills in the market. The federal government has subsidised 100 students, who cannot afford their educational costs but want to learn technical skills. Zeeshan went on to explain the process under which the students were chosen. For this, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) surveyed the need for technical education and market demand for such skills. The Commission made a chart of four courses that will provide hands-on experience to the students. The students only have theoretical knowledge, whereas hiring is based on practical knowledge, according to him. As a result, the NIE has found a way to address this issue by placing their recently graduated students in real-world internships. According to an assessment, 60% to 70% of students find work in the open market. Other students have started their own freelancing businesses or set up shops where they are offering their services to the public. "I've seen a lot of people change their lives by learning technical skills that are in high demand in the national and international market like Germany," Zeeshan said. Muhammad Tayyab, a web designing trainer at the NIE, told WealthPK that four govt-funded lab technology courses had begun this week. He said the NIE was considering courses in graphic designing, ad tech, SEO, and IoT. Class sizes have been capped at 25 students, and the next cohort will begin in six months. Using fonts, graphics, diverse forms, and various colors, Tayyab emphasized that graphic designing utilizes visual impacts to communicate concepts. The customers are drawn to graphic designs because they are pleasing to the eye. Visual communications presented by the designs are aimed at conveying specific meanings. In the second course, he mentioned ad tech, which he described as a set of digital advertising and technology to better target specific consumers. This can be used for display, video, or mobile advertising. Marketers can obtain more accurate and valuable information by employing ad tech. The other course, SEO, shows how to optimize a website for search engines. According to Muhammad Tayyab, this course teaches students how to increase both the quality and quantity of traffic to their website. It is a set of methods that enhance the appearance and positioning of the web pages in organic search results due to the people's habit of opening websites based on the number at the top of the page. So, if one wants to make money from one’s website, positioning is critical. The Internet of Things (IoT) was his final topic of discussion. IoT is a vast network of interconnected devices and people that gathers and exchanges data on their activities and surroundings. He added that these classes are a way for young people to gain information and skills that would help them become more productive and find work.
