MoU signed to train 10,000 people in hospitality sector

February 22, 2023

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) and the Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Project (PTEGP) to train 10,000 people in the hospitality sector. The abilities of employees in Punjab's tourist sector would be improved and enhanced thanks to this relationship. Moreover, both parties would collaborate to spread the word about this alliance among significant players in the tourist sector.

As stated in the agreement, the PSDF would be in charge of selecting the professional fields and enlisting the assistance of its vast network of training service providers to carry out skill trainings. According to PSDF Chief Operating Officer Ali Akbar Bosan, the cooperation aims to activate three key components: boosting private sector engagement, enhancing infrastructural services, and honing the capabilities of those working in the tourism sector.

According to Bosan, the PSDF as a skills expert is in sync with the training and expertise that the industry requires so it can shape competent individuals and they, in turn, can give excellent service and performance to push Punjab's tourist economy to the next level. "We are thrilled to collaborate with PTEGP to carry out this essential project," he added.

Speaking at the event, PTEGP Project Director Muhammad Waqas Malik stated that PTEGP will pay for the training and provide assistance in bringing the project's objectives to the attention of the appropriate people in order to ensure its success. A project management unit would be established to meticulously oversee the training in order to guarantee that the project's objectives are met, he added.

He said Pakistan's economy must be driven by a vibrant tourism sector, and a skilled workforce is crucial to luring visitors and building an ecosystem that provides them with an exceptional customer experience. The contract was signed on behalf of each party by PSDF Chief Operating Officer Ali Akbar Bosan and PTEGP Project Director Muhammad Waqas Malik.
