The 6th International Conference on Research and Practices in Education has prepared a road map to improve the quality of education and research in Pakistan.
Researchers and speakers emphasized the need for providing opportunities to research practitioners and academics to explore new avenues. They proposed suggestions on the adoption of modern teaching methods, teacher education, upgrading of curricula, improvement of collective and individual lives, and social issues.
The conference also stressed the need to use technology in the teaching process, develop students' creativity, provide opportunities for skill-based education and formulate a common policy for the promotion of stem education.
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) hosted the two-day conference with the theme “Education for Future.” Many panel discussions and working sessions were held to draw conclusions.
Emeritus Prof Dr Mahmood ul Hasan Butt speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony said, “The role of teachers is important in the development of nations, so we need to pay special attention to teacher education.”
Dean, Faculty of Education, AIOU, Prof Dr Nasir Mehmood said, “The world is on the verge of a big change in the education sector after COVID-19.” He urged the students to do short courses to improve their skills, get jobs and continue education to make their future bright.
“Nations are made and broken by morals and our society is looking for high moral value,” he added.
Chairman, National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, Prof Dr Muhammad Memon was the guest of honour. Head, Department of Education, Sukkur IBA University, Prof Dr Irfan Ahmed delivered the keynote address at the closing session.
The speakers congratulated the Vice Chancellor, AIOU, Professor Dr Zia Ul-Qayyum and Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof Dr Nasir Mahmood for organizing the conference on an important topic.
