Pakistan and China have agreed to launch the ML-1 project as early as possible. The project will lay down state-of-the art railway lines in the country to replace the British-era tracks.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong hosted a dinner in honour of Minister for Railways Khuwaja Saad Rafique where the agreement was reached to speed up the initiation of ML-1 project.
Chairman of Pakistan Railways, Additional Secretary, Secretary of Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also accompanied the minister.
The minister highlighted the need for China to invest in the airlines of Pakistan especially the PIA. He also stressed the importance of Pakistan’s airports as transit points for travel to further along the geographical line.
The Chinese ambassador assured the minister that he will discuss the proposal with Chinese private airlines.
The ambassador also welcomed the suggestion that direct flights should be started from Pakistan to Beijing and Guangzhou since many Pakistanis study or work in China. Their numbers have increased especially after the initiation of CPEC projects and long-term strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.
