Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali has said that economic activity in the merged districts needs to be revived through investments and establishing trade links. He said it is very important to bring modern industrial input into the region to fully utilize the natural resources offered by the region. He highlighted the rich mineral deposits of the region and stressed the need for foreign companies to come and establish industrial plants.
He made these remarks while meeting with delegations from Swat, Buner and South Waziristan districts at his official residence in Peshawar. Members of the three delegations told the Governor about problems in education, health, infrastructure, job market and law and order situation. They also highlighted the problems being faced by people after the recent floods and told the Governor of the relief efforts being carried out by the respective district administrations.
Ghulam Ali said that he is aware of the problems being faced by people especially after the floods. He said he understands the nuances of public departments since he himself is a public servant. He added, “I understand the problems being faced by the people and I will do everything in my power to solve them.” Later in the day the Governor was also called upon by former Member of National Assembly Sardar Muhammad Yusuf, and Member of Provincial Assembly Malik Zafar Azam, who told the Governor of the problems in their constituencies.
The Governor was also visited by a delegation of the members of the Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation extended their congratulations to the Governor on assuming charge of the Governorship. Members of the delegation expressed hope and trust in the leadership of Ghulam Ali and said that they are confident that the Governor will play an active role in reviving trade and industry in the province.
