The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan will start another round of training to prepare outstanding students from the country for GRE examination to be conducted for higher studies in the United States. The training will be a part of the “US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor” initiative to help deserving Pakistani students to get higher education opportunities from some of the best universities in the world.
The GRE training will be conducted both online and in-person. It is also open for non-PhD faculty in various institutes all across the country.Eligibility criteria according to the HEC notification is 4 years of bachelor’s degree (BS/B.Sc./B.E/16 years of formal education) with no 2nd or 3rd Division in the entire academic career of the applicant.
In case of government employees, regular faculty members of public sector universities and government colleges, regular researchers of registered R & D organizations, the maximum age limit will be 38. In case of regular applicants who do not fall under any of the aforementioned categories, the age limit will be 33.
It is also important that the applicant does not avail any HEC scholarships at the time of application. The training fee will be PKR 2500 for virtual sessions and PKR 5000 for in-person ones. The remaining fee for the training will be provided by the HEC.
The last date for the submission of applications is December 10, 2022, which can only be submitted through the Google form here. Fee deposition will be required once the shortlisted candidates are contacted for the said purpose.
The GRE training under the “US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor” initiative is a part of its “Talent Farming” component. It is a 40-hour training program which prepares students and non-PhD faculty to get admission in some of the best institutes in the world.
A total of 25 training sessions have already been conducted by the HEC in 8 different cities of the country including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Muzaffarabad (AJ&K). The training will be conducted exclusively by USEFP approved trainers.
