Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said K-IV is an important project to address the water shortage in Karachi and the federal government is keen to complete it in the shortest possible time. He made the remarks after reviewing the progress of Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme, commonly known as K-IV Project.
Expressing satisfaction over the measures taken by the project management, he said that his ministry would fully support WAPDA in the completion of the project. Earlier, the project director made a detailed presentation to the federal minister about the progress on K-IV Project. He was informed that the project was being executed through eight different contracts.
Phase-I of the K-IV Project was scheduled for completion in March 2024. Prompt release of funds is essential for the completion of the project as per schedule, he added. The K-IV Project involved a supply of 650 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to Karachi from Keenjhar Lake. WAPDA has been entrusted by the federal government to construct Phase-I of the project, which would provide 260 MGD of water to Karachi. The minister was accompanied by Chairman of WAPDA Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd), said a press release received by WealthPK.
