February 22, 2023

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman has said that he will assist in resolving major problems of the business community in Islamabad, which contributes to the economy by encouraging economic operations and paying taxes. He was speaking to a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) led by its president Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari at the Governor's House.

A focal person from the Governor House will be chosen, he said, to engage with ICCI to address the concerns of the business community. He promised to speak with Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar to arrange a session with ICCI on crucial economic issues. He said that the administration is making a concerted effort to guide the economy away from its current problems and maintain inflation control. He believed that by making these efforts, the economy would improve.

Addressing at the event, ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that the ICCI is now working on a new industrial park in the area. The Punjab Government should engage with the ICCI to help provide adequate land for this significant project, he added. He argued that ICCI ought to have representation on the boards of the Punjab Government's business-related departments. He suggested hastening the development of the Rawalpindi Ring Road and IJP Road in order to enhance the twin cities' transportation infrastructure.

He said that the Punjab Government should develop the main road of the Kahuta Industrial Triangle since the present route is in poor shape and industrialists are having difficulties transporting goods. He suggested that the Punjab government should set aside land so that the chambers of commerce and industry in Chakwal, Talangang, and Murree could establish their own offices. The Punjab governor accepted his invitation to attend a significant ICCI event.

According to ICCI Senior Vice President Faad Waheed, the government should concentrate on creating new industrial zones since industrialization is crucial for boosting the economy. ICCI Vice President Engr. Azhar ul Islam Zafar said the government should concentrate on the agriculture sector, since this will aid in rebuilding the economy.

According to ICCI Group Leader Khalid Iqbal Malik,a think tank made up of government officials and well-known business figures should be created in order to rescue the economy from its current predicament. Former ICCI President Zafar Bakhtawari praised Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman's work and said that he serves as an example for others.
