RIYADH, Feb 09 (INP): Assistant Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmdei has said that the four new laws introduced to reform Kingdom’s judicial institutions to play role of major legal reformers. Talking to Alekhbariya News, he said, The Civil Transactions Law, The Penal Code for Discretionary Sanctions and The Law of Evidence constitute Saudi Arabia’s current transformations, with the judiciary undergoing a major overhaul. Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmdei said, the laws tackle an array of issues, including, Judicial integrity, Stamping out judicial inconsistencies, Precision in court rulings, Increased accountability and Tackling lengthy litigations. The newly introduced laws represent a new wave of judicial reforms in the Kingdom. It is worth mentioning here that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud the other day announced four new laws to Reform the Kingdom’s Judicial Institutions The media reports stated that the reforms will help with the prediction of court rulings, the increase of the level of integrity and efficiency of judicial institutions, and will contribute to the increase of the reliability of procedures and control mechanisms. They will help clarify the lines of accountability and ensure the consistency of legal references in a way that limits widespread discrepancies in court rulings. Discrepancies in court rulings has led to a lack of clarity in the rules governing the incidents and practices, and has hurt many, mostly women, the reports added. It further stated that the new reforms will tackle lack of clarity in rules governing incidents and practices, prolonged litigations that are not based on established legal provisions and absence of a clear legal framework for individuals and businesses.
