Farmers and growers in Pakistan have been advised to start cultivation of wheat during the last half of October for a better yield.
According to a statement received by WealthPK from Punjab Agriculture (Extension) Department, the last fortnight of October and November are the most suitable time for wheat cultivation. The yield and quality of wheat would decrease gradually if the crop is cultivated after November.
In addition, farmers should complete wheat sowing by December 10 at every cost by using a 60-kilogram bag of seed per acre instead of 50-kilogram bag if they fail to cultivate the crop during November.
The statement said farmers should also use one-and-a-half bags of DAP fertiliser before watering the crop and using two to three bags of Urea fertiliser. A bag of Sulphate of Potash (SOP) should also be applied to get good produce.
The statement said that farmers should cultivate approved varieties of wheat to get a bumper yield. Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) has also introduced new wheat varieties including Akbar-19, Ujala-16, Dilkash-2021, Subhani-2021 and Urooj-2022, which have sufficient resistance against diseases and can give maximum production.
