Farmers advised to start potato cultivation immediately

Agriculture experts have advised growers to start potato cultivation and complete it by mid of October to get bumper yield, according to a statement received by WealthPK.
A spokesman of the Punjab Agriculture (Extension) Department said that the potato is used largely in Pakistan because it is a rich source of proteins, carbohydrates, potassium, sodium, etc. He said that the last half of September is the most suitable time for cultivation of potato crops. Therefore, the farmers should start its cultivation immediately and use seeds of approved varieties to get maximum production.
The spokesman said potato production will not only play a big role in catering to food requirements of the country but also help growers mitigate their financial constraints. Therefore, the farmers should cultivate this cash crop over maximum scale of their land, he added.
