By Omer Bilal ISLAMABAD, March 22 (INP-WealthPK): The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Industrial Cooperation -- B2B Investment Conference to be held in Karachi on March 14 will help explore investment opportunities for Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone (KCCDZ) project and other sectors, reported WealthPK. The Board of Investment (BOI) in collaboration with the Sindh government and Pakistan-China Business and Investment Forum is organising the investment conference, which will continue for two days. A BOI official informed WealthPK that the conference would highlight the potential for investment in KCCDZ and in different other areas, including pharmaceuticals and food processing. He added that representatives of chambers from the provinces, including the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, would be participating in the event to showcase their projects. The BOI official said that the participation of foreign investors in the conference was the highlight of the event. He said that agriculture technology, livestock and food processing, mass transit, transport, textile, pharmaceuticals, information technology, automobiles, and special economic zones were the potential sectors where foreign investors might be willing to invest. “Investment opportunities will be offered under the public-private partnership mechanism. We will also welcome foreign joint ventures,” the official said. The BOI official maintained that the conference was hybrid in nature with options of both physical and virtual participation. “Many Chinese companies will be joining online to present their project proposals for joint venture partnership in Pakistan,” he said, adding that the signing of the Framework Agreement on Industrial Cooperation during the prime minister’s visit to China in February came about after the CPEC Industrial Cooperation B2B Investment Conferences in Peshawar in November and Lahore in December 2021. In his remarks about the conference, BOI chairman Muhammad Azfar Ahsan said the government was committed to creating enabling environment for investors. “BOI is ready to facilitate retail industry and e-commerce players for launching their projects.” “The priority sectors being focused in the Karachi conference include textiles, agriculture and livestock, IT, housing and construction and green energy. Memoranda of Understanding between private companies will also be signed on the sidelines of the conference,” said the BOI chairman. Representatives of the Sindh government, Embassy of the People's Republic of China, its Consul General in Karachi and federal ministers will also show up at the conference. Chinese leading enterprises in Pakistan will also attend the meeting together with Pakistani enterprises. The conference has received tremendous response from the private sector and hundreds of companies and individuals from diverse sectors of Sindh and the rest of the country have committed their active participation in the investment conference.
