SHENYANG (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Egyptian musicians have staged an online concert to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, attracting an audience of millions of netizens.
Musicians performed and sang eight popular songs during the hour-long cloud-based show held on Wednesday evening (Beijing Time). The Chinese singers performed at the Liaoning Opera House in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, while the Egyptian musicians performed in Cairo.

I hope this concert will bring the Chinese people the best wishes for the New Year," said Walid Korayem, an Egyptian tenor who participated in the event.
"We spent one and a half months preparing for the concert. The two sides conducted rehearsals before staging the perfect presentation," said Fu Weilin, a baritone with the Liaoning Opera House.
The Spring Festival falls on Friday. It is the most important festival of the Chinese calendar and provides people with a weeklong holiday. ■
