Chinese consumers expect better offline shopping experience: survey

June 20, 2021

BEIJING, June 20 (Xinhua) - Over 93 percent of Chinese consumers polled in a recent survey said they hoped for a better shopping experience in brick-and-mortar venues, China Youth Daily reported.

The top three suggestions on how to improve the shopping experience are well-trained sales service personnel, optimized services at the checkout counter and a no-hassle return policy within seven days, according to the survey on 1,534 respondents by the newspaper.

Consumers complained most about parking headaches when shopping in physical stores, said the survey, noting the proportion of respondents raising the issue was 56.1 percent.

Other complaints included long wait times, misleading price tags and complicated return and replacement procedures, according to the survey.

Of the respondents, 31.2 percent were from first-tier cities and 44.1 percent from second-tier cities.  ■
