BEIJING, March 1 (INP): China has called for efforts to completely discard the Cold War mentality and forge a balanced, effective and sustainable European security mechanism through dialogue and negotiation.
Replying to a question about Ukraine situation, the spokesperson said " All countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity should be respected and upheld and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter should be jointly safeguarded.
This is a principle China consistently holds and a basic norm governing international relations that all countries should adhere to.
At the same time we recognize the special historical complexities on the Ukraine issue and understand Russia’s legitimate security concerns.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will once again attend the high-level segment of the UN Human Rights Council to expound on his views on the current international human rights condition, put forward China’s position on and proposal for global human rights governance, share China’s vision and experience of protecting human rights and contribute China’s wisdom to promoting the sound development of the global human rights cause.
The Human Rights Council is a central platform for human rights discussions in the UN. China will actively participate in the discussion of all agenda items of this session of the Human Rights Council, work on the Human Rights Council to uphold the principles of impartiality, objectivity and non-selectivity together with all parties, abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, oppose interference in others’ internal affairs and double standard under the pretext of human rights issues, and make relentless efforts for global human rights governance that is more equitable, reasonable and inclusive, he added.
About Russian- Ukarain conflict, Wang Wenbin further said, China will continue to develop the friendly cooperative relationship with Ukraine based on mutual respect and non-interference.
We seek diplomatic negotiation and political settlement as soon as possible, and realize a comprehensive resolution of the Ukraine issue through dialogue and consultation, he added.
