The sales of cars during the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year (2022-23) dropped by 43.12% compared to the same months of last year (2021-22), WealthPK reported. According to data released by Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA), 74,933 cars were sold during July-January FY23 compared to 131,759 units sold during the corresponding period of FY22.
The breakup figures showed that 10,526 units of Honda Civic and City were sold during the period under review compared to 21,266 units last year, showing a dip of 50.5%. The sales of Toyota Corolla and Yaris also decreased by 60.22% to 13,784 units during the first seven months of FY23 from 34,654 units during the same period of the previous year. However, Suzuki Swift’s sales went up by 1,437.22% to 7,640 units during the period under review from 497 units last year.
The sales of Suzuki Cultus decreased to 5,686 units during the first seven months of FY23 compared to 15,688 units last year, while the sales of Suzuki WagonR also decreased to 4,440 units from 13,166 units during the same period. Suzuki Alto's sales also declined 23.70% from 36,252 units to 27,658 units during the months under review, whereas the sales of Suzuki Bolan decreased to 2,992 units from 7,197 units.
