Sania Nishter, a senator for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), informed the Upper House of parliament of her objective to introduce a bill to amend the Benazir Income Support Programme Act, 2010, which the House had rejected. She suggested measures to increase the stipend provided by BISP in order to shield the poor from rising inflation.
Speaking to the House on a matter of public importance, she explained that the bill, introduced in the House, aimed to link the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) stipend with inflation to provide the greatest amount of relief possible to the socially marginalised groups through increased funding for the programme. Sania Nishter stated that a committee had already been established to design a system for raising the amount in accordance with inflation in the budget, and that the committee had also conducted one meeting.
