Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has decided to train 84,000 youth in various digital and technological skills. KPK government will spend a total of PKR 5 billion on its “Digital Skills Initiative Program.” The program will be run over a course of two years to have a quick impact. The provincial government hopes to achieve mass digital literacy through its programs of digital inclusion.
The opening up of new opportunities in cloud space has made it necessary to give youth practical education in emerging technologies so that they can compete with their peers around the world. Upgradation of skills is also important since modern industry and service landscape requires a set of trained manpower able to undertake technical jobs.
The main objective of the program will be to make KPK a hub of digital nomads working remotely for foreign companies. They will be able to earn money in foreign currencies while working through the liberty of their homes. This will also allow Pakistan to earn precious foreign exchange through increasing its ICT exports. Digital Skills Initiative Program for youth includes partnership development with ICT industry, employable digital skills, global certifications, Nanodegree programs and placement of trained youth in ICT industry.
