Scholarships will be awarded to 1,230 bright young students from Kohat, Hangu and Karak districts in technical education to improve the skills base of the said areas, according to information available with WealthPK.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department (HED), Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) and Kohat Division Development Project (KDDP) to this effect. The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary of Planning and Development Shah Mehmood Khan, Secretary of Higher Education Department Dawood Khan and DG SDU Sohail Khan.
The scholarship will be given to students on merit and cover all the expenses. They include tuition fee, books, library cost, boarding, accommodation, and a generous monthly stipend. The scholarship will be given for diploma, degrees, and certificate courses. The total cost of the scholarship will be PKR 349 million.
According to the division of the responsibilities, the HERA will assist KDDP scholars in getting the diploma and certificate courses in health, technical, mobile, and digital skills. On the other hand, the HED will help the KDDP scholars in the fields of petroleum and gas engineering, energy and power engineering, health, and nursing.
