Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Shahram Khan Tarakai Monday said 798,333 boys and girls had been enrolled in the campaign across the province that was started on August 1 and extended till September 10 due to floods in various districts, reports WealthPK.
Out of the total, including the merged tribal areas, 798,333 boys and girls got admissions to government schools of which 109,000 students were from private schools, which was an outstanding achievement, Shahram said.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education department started the admission campaign under “Parhega to Barega Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” in all schools of the province to increase the literacy rate and enrol dropout students.
The KP minister said admissions continued in both first and second shift schools together so that the children working in the first shift could also get an opportunity to study. He said this year the entire admission campaign system would be digitized for which the Education Department had created an app and complete data of all children would be available online on the dashboard.
All the record of the newly admitted students promoted to middle, high and higher secondary levels along with complete details will be registered, he said, adding that a target of enrolling one million children had been set for which an admission campaign will be conducted at every district, tehsil, village council and circle level.
Shahram said the admission campaign will be conducted door-to-door by local elders, senior students, parents, teachers, council members, scouts and school heads.
Regarding educational facilities, the education minister said the schools will have free textbooks, excellent educational facilities and competent teachers. The government has fulfilled its responsibility, he said and appealed to the people to fulfil their responsibility by enrolling their children in schools.
