In a comprehensive survey conducted by the World Cricketers Association, international players across 13 countries have voiced a growing preference for T20 cricket. Notably, the survey excluded players from Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan. According to the findings, 30% of players rank T20 as their most important format, marking a notable increase in its popularity this year. In contrast, 48% of respondents still value Test cricket, while 22% prioritize ODIs. Comparing to previous years, the survey reveals a shift in perceptions towards major cricket tournaments. The importance of the T20 World Cup has risen from 15% in 2019 to 35% in 2024, while interest in the ODI World Cup has declined to 50%. Additionally, 15% of players emphasized the significance of the World Test Championship this year, reflecting diverse preferences among cricketing nations. This survey underscores evolving player perspectives on cricket formats amid changing global sporting landscapes.
