Khana Kaaba's Kiswa to be replaced on Muharram 1, 1446 HijriBreaking

The Kiswa, the covering of the Khana Kaaba will be replaced on the 1st of Muharram, 1446 Hijri. According to the report, all preparations for this significant event have been completed. The task of replacing the Kiswa involves 159 skilled technicians and craftsmen. Every year, it takes three to four hours to remove the old Kiswa, which is fastened with golden clips, and completely drape the new covering over the Kaaba. Over 200 individuals work at the King Abdul Aziz Kiswa Complex to prepare the Kaaba's covering, participating in various stages of its production. The world's largest sewing machine which is 16 meters long and operated by a computer system is used for various tasks related to the Kiswa.

To create the Kiswa, 1,000 kilograms of raw silk, dyed black within the complex, is used. The complex is equipped with state-of-the-art Jacquard machines for fabric preparation. Other machines produce black silk for embroidering Quranic verses, prayers, and other texts. Plain silk is also prepared, upon which verses are printed. Additionally, gold and silver threads are used for intricate embroidery, with 120 kilograms of gold and 100 kilograms of silver thread utilized. Each material used in the preparation of the Kiswa undergoes a thorough inspection, with a dedicated laboratory ensuring quality control at every stage of production.
